Facts about Bees

  • There are more than 19,000 species of bees on the planet.
  • A queen bee lives as long as four years, having laid some fifteen hundred eggs a day.
  • Wild bees are responsible for billions of dollars of crop pollination every year.
  • In California, six hundred and fifty kilometers of almond orchards need some fifty billion bees to help with pollination.
  • With wind pollination, almond trees produce two and a half kilos per hectare. With honey bees, they yield more than three thousand kilos per hectare - seven hundred and fifty times more almonds.

  1. You've used some lovely photos and pictures in your blog, but I'm having trouble finding the credits for them.
If these are your own great!
If you are using other people's work, please give them credit for their hard work.
    It's only fair.
